Carpenter Technology to Host Technical Seminar: Materials for Oil & Gas Exploration and Production
WYOMISSING, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 28, 2006--Carpenter Technology Corporation (NYSE:CRS) announced today that it will host a special technology seminar, "Materials for Oil & Gas Exploration and Production," at the Hilton Houston Westchase, in Houston, Texas on Tuesday, July 18, beginning at 8:30 am.
Dr. Sunil Y. Widge, Vice President of Business Development & Chief Technology Officer, will be joined by a team of product and R&D metallurgists from Carpenter's various business units, including Specialty Alloys Operations, Dynamet, Carpenter Powder Products and Carpenter Advanced Ceramics. The seminar will address the use of high performance alloys and steels, titanium and ceramic products for applications in energy development.
Attendees will learn about alloys and ceramics that may be considered for applications in harsh environments; discuss new product needs for increasingly demanding applications; learn about new alloy developments; and network with peers and industry professionals. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet individually with presenters.
"This information will be valuable in helping those in the oil and gas industries learn about material solutions for performance, fabrication and design challenges," said Widge. "Efficient, cost-effective energy production is a major topic today, from the consumer through the production levels, so this seminar is timely."

Dr. Sunil Y. Widge has held various metallurgy and management positions with Carpenter since 1976, focusing on new product development, marketing, applications and R&D. He is a member of the American Society for Metals, the Industrial Research Institute and The Metallurgy Society, and currently holds five U.S. Patents.
